2025 Techniques Trophy and Cup

posted 13th June 2025
We are proud to let you know that the Techniques Trophy will again be a part of the Bentley Driver’s Club race meeting at Silverstone on Saturday, 9 August. This year represents the 20th running of the TT, and as such we are inviting competitors past and present to join us for this special anniversary in what is, of course, also the 40th Anniversary Year of the Morgan Challenge.
This event is a wonderful day out for the whole family, with various races, lunchtime parades and lots of Morgans and Bentleys on display.
We know that some of you who joined us in the early days of the TT no longer race. However, we would still love you to come along and join in the celebrations and catch up with old friends, and maybe make a few new ones too!
Chris Thompson from the Morgan Challenge has organised for a lunchtime track parade which will be open to all Challenge and TT competitors. Non-competitors will also be able to book a place for £40 per car (competitors free!) and join in.
All parade participants will receive two vouchers for lunch at a mobile pizza oven which the Morgan Challenge are organising as part of their 40th Anniversary celebrations. It would be wonderful to see former competitors join us for a lap or two – ex-race cars are especially welcome! We will of course be providing drinks for you to enjoy while handing out the TT and Challenge trophies at the end of the day.
We hope to catch up with as many of you as possible on the day.

Info for Competitors
Entries are now open and we would love to see as many of you as possible joining in to take part in The TT and the Morgan Challenge races on what should be a very special day.
For those of you wishing to compete this year, we are working closely with the BDC to arrange a better schedule for the TT and Challenge races to avoid the mad dash some of you had last year. We have also decided to make some changes to the TT itself which should also help make life easier on the day.
As many of you will know, we agreed to set up the TT back in 2006 to encourage the older cars, which at that time were no longer competitive in the Morgan Challenge, a chance to race with similar cars. However, we know many of you with newer cars enjoy the event and want to take part too. We have therefore decided that:
- The Techniques Trophy will be awarded to the leading push-rod-engined car running on historic tyres (Avon CR6 ZZ, Historic Dunlop racing tyres (L or M) or road tyres with a minimum profile of 70% ), recognising the true spirit of that first event 20 years ago.
- The Techniques Cup will be awarded to the leading four-cylinder Morgan that is not eligible for the Techniques Trophy. That means all four-cylinder Morgans, including the modern twin-cam cars, can compete for the Cup and do not have to use historic tyres. Hopefully this saves you the expense of a set of historic tyres that you’ll use once a year, and avoid the need for time consuming wheel changes between sessions.
