If you only have a few hours we can recommend Hitchin with its independent shops.
The fairly new retail park just 1 junction north off the A1 has a variety of shops including M&S, Next, Matalan, TK Maxx, H&M, Laura Ashley, Boots, Superdrug, River Island, New Look, Argos, Wilko, Homebase, Benson for Beds, Halfords and Pets at Home.
There are also various large supermarkets in the area if you want to take the opportunity of doing your weekly shop while your car is in for a small service: Tesco Extra in Baldock, Sainsbury's in Letchworth, Morrisons in Letchworth and Asda in Biggleswade or Stevenage.
When you have a whole day you might want to go shopping in Milton Keynes, with its large modern shopping mall with over 240 stores, cafes and restaurants. It is also ideal for when the weather is bad.
We can also drop you off at Letchworth station from where you could go to London or Cambridge for the day.
