2026 Techniques Trophy & Cup - Saturday 15 August
The Techniques Trophy will be held again at the Bentley Drivers Club meeting at Silverstone. The event takes place on Saturday 15 August, where we will once again witness the fastest four cylinder Morgan past the flag to claim the 2026 Techniques Trophy or the Techniques Cup.
This year promises to be especially memorable as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Techniques Trophy. While 2026 marks the 21st running of the TT, it is 20 years since that first unforgettable race in 2006. What began as a single event has grown into a tradition, creating countless memories, friendships and stories along the way.
We hope you’ll join us as we celebrate two decades of the Techniques Trophy and look back on an incredible journey together. It promises to be a truly special occasion.
As many of you will know, we agreed to set up the TT back in 2006 to encourage the older cars, which at that time were no longer competitive in the Morgan Challenge, a chance to race with similar cars. However, we know many of you with newer cars enjoy the event and want to take part too.
As introduced last year:
- The Techniques Trophy will be awarded to the leading push-rod-engined car running on historic tyres (Avon CR6 ZZ, Historic Dunlop racing tyres (L or M) or road tyres with a minimum profile of 70% ), recognising the true spirit of that first event 20 years ago.
- The Techniques Cup will be awarded to the leading four-cylinder Morgan that is not eligible for the Techniques Trophy. That means all four-cylinder Morgans, including the modern twin-cam cars, can compete for the Cup and do not have to use historic tyres. Hopefully this saves you the expense of a set of historic tyres that you’ll use once a year, and avoid the need for time consuming wheel changes between sessions.
Previous winners of the Techniques Trophy include Billy Bellinger, Jack Bellinger, Richard Plant and Son William, Keith Ahlers, James Sumner, Chas Windridge, Keith Ahlers, Henry Williams, Tony Hirst, Tim Parsons and Jonathon Rushton. We hope that last year's winners Billy Bellinger and Jack Bellinger will be back to defend their titles.
