Our History

Techniques are first and foremost Morgan specialists and enthusiasts providing a service to like minded Morgan enthusiasts.

We are a family run business and our garage sits squarely in the middle of Stotfold village, Hertfordshire.

Techniques is owned and run by the Gateson family: Brian Gateson assisted by his wife Tracy and oldest son James. In 2013 we were delighted to celebrate 25 years of servicing, repairing and restoring Morgan sports cars. We are all Morgan folk and our family are proud custodians of a 1934 Morgan 3-wheeler, a 1952 Flat Rad +4 and a 2007 Morgan +4. Brian also races a 1978 Morgan +8 in the Aero Racing Championship - when time allows!

Techniques' enviable reputation has been earned by our attention to detail and our ability to solve problems even on the most rare or advanced Morgan. Amongst the rare cars that are cared for at our Stotfold garage are the unique Morgan +4 saloon, the short lived Morgan +4+, the actual 1938/39 Morgan 4-4 that competed twice at Le Mans, the striking EB car and a 60's Morgan +4 Super Sports. Those of a more advanced nature include the limited edition Morgan Aeromax and state-of-the-art, fully modified, 400+ bhp Morgan +8 race cars.

Repairs and servicing remain the core of our business

Quality Morgan servicing and repairs is what our reputation has been built around since our beginning back in April 1988.

As accredited Morgan Service Dealers we are able to tackle everything from the earliest three wheeled Morgan to the latest Aero range and Morgan +8 and including the hugely successful new Morgan 3 wheeler.

Our fully equipped workshop and trained technicians with their knowledge and understanding will keep your Morgan running smoothly.

We prepare historic Morgans for various inter marque championships at the world's most prestigious race meetings.

We have supported Morgans at every single Le Mans Classic and also at the Goodwood Revival and Festival of Speed events. The Silverstone Classic and Spa 6 Hour meetings are also popular with our customers and we even supported a car to the Mille Miglia but sadly not a Morgan (as they are unfortunately ineligible!).

Each year since 2006 we have run our own Techniques Trophy Race for 4-cylinder Morgans and 2017 will be the 9th season supporting the Morgan Sports Car Club's Sprint and Hill Climb Championship. Our race support vehicle, awning and staff are out most weekends throughout the summer ensuring that our customers have a safe and enjoyable race.

We are extremely proud that our customers have been so successful racing their Morgans winning the Aero Racing Challenge series overall four times and taking home numerous class championships and trophies, as well as other established historic race championships.

If you like what you see and read, then please come and visit us here in Stotfold. We will be delighted to see you and help you to get the most enjoyment from your Morgan, whatever you choose to do with it.
