Techniques Race Support
The 2011 race season has seen Team Techniques support a whole array of different Morgans at various circuits throughout the UK and Europe, with much continued success including support for a Sunbeam Rapier during the ‘Mille Miglia’.

Aero Racing Morgan Challenge
The Aero Racing Morgan Challenge was well supported by its competitors this season with an average of 30 cars on the grid per race, many of which were prepared by Team Techniques with our technicians providing vital support for our customers’ race cars at all the scheduled events.
Roger Whiteside completed his first season in his newly acquired class B +8 that was built as a racecar by Brian back in 1999. Throughout the season Roger has been working his way up the grid in Class B, becoming more confident with the power and handling of this very quick Morgan, resulting in a well deserved 2nd in class B and 10th overall in the Aero Racing Morgan Challenge. Roger also played a significant part in the winning Morgan team at the Snetterton 4hr Relay.
Finally congratulations must go to the Class R champion and 4th overall, Simon Baines in his Techniques prepared Roadster Lightweight, after collecting a good number of strong results throughout the season.
Techniques would like to thank all of our customers and ‘supporters’ for another successful Morgan racing season.

Techniques Trophy 2011
With a superb turnout of 22 four cylinder Morgans at the BDC meeting at Silverstone, it was always going to be an exciting race. Some very quick Morgans boasting in excess of 230bhp were able to demonstrate how quickly they can lap the national circuit. The weather stayed fine and dry although ‘threatening’ at times. Qualifying was incident free and saw the rapid Duratec engined Morgan of Chas Windridge take pole position ahead of Richard Plant, Barry Sumner, Adrian van der Kroft and the SLR of John Emberson.
The race was closely fought out throughout the field with eventual winner Chas Windridge crossing the line ahead of Richard who drove superbly in his TR engined Morgan but not a match for the Duratec car. Third place went to Adrian after battling with John Emberson and the very quick, brand new Morgan +4 Supersports driven by ‘novice’ Greg Dixon Smith.
It was great to see so many Morgan enthusiasts at the presentation where Chris Chapman was on hand to present this year’s trophies to the winners. All in all a very exciting event for 4 wheeled, 4 cylinder Morgans to celebrate their 75th anniversary! We hope that you can all make it again next year.

Techniques 4 Cylinder Cup
This season’s Morgan Sports Car Club event was at Donnington on Monday 30 May.
It included the new ‘Techniques 4 Cylinder Cup’, a race for 4 Cylinder Morgans in the Sports Car v Saloon race. Unfortunately due to the bad weather, conditions were hazardous and some cars pulled out. The 2011 winner of The Techiques 4 Cylinder Cup is Billy Bellenger with the factory’s Morgan +4 Supersports.
We hope this will be a regular event at all future MSCC race meetings and hope that many of you will enter next year’s race.
Historic Racing
We are very proud to have supported this beautiful Morgan SLR throughout Europe and the UK and congratulate John Emberson and Bill Wykeham, winners of the GT3 category in the GT & Sports Car Cup.

Techniques also provided two cars for the Celebrity Race at the 2011 Silverstone Classic. Brendan Cole, driving our yellow +8, achieved third place after narrowly missing Luther Blissett’s car crash.

'Best Presented Car' Award
At this year’s 4-hour Relay Race at Snetterton, Brian was delighted to receive an award for the ‘Best Presented Car’, voted for by the Race Scrutineers.

2012 Race Event in Assen, The Netherlands
We would like to highlight another exiting event for 4 cylinder Morgans. The Dutch Morgan Sports Car Club is organising a race meeting in Assen in The Netherlands, as part of their 40th Anniversary celebrations during the weekend of 13-15 July 2012. To celebrate the occasion they are inviting members of Morgan clubs from all over the world to join them for this special event. As it will be the 50th Anniversary of Morgan’s famous victory at Le Mans, they have scheduled a race for four cylinder cars.

SpeedMog - Techniques Speed Championship
The Techniques MSCC Speed Championship drew to a close at Castle Combe with the top 3 positions in the championship still to be decided. Fine weather at the previous round at Prescott resulted in 2 class records being reset and plenty to play for in the final round.
Perfect weather conditions saw some very spirited driving from the field of 10 Morgans and it was still close until the very last car in the class had completed his run. Once all handicaps had been taken into account, Greg Dixon-Smith in his modified ex factory 4/4 was the eventual winner on the day, with father and son duo Simon & Jonathan Baines in the Techniques prepared Roadster in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
Once the final points had been calculated, Greg Dixon Smith had claimed 1st place in the Championship, with Andrew Miller in 2nd place, only 1 point behind and Simon Baines in 3rd another 1.5 points behind. Best Lady Driver was awarded to Andrew’s wife, Anne Miller, whilst Best Novice was won by Barry Bartlett.
