Ride and Handling Improvements
The ride and handling of all the traditional bodied cars can be improved. Common modifications are installation of all round adjustable shock absorbers, different springs, panhard rods and chassis strengthening. We can also adjust the castor and camber of your Morgan and should you feel that loads on the steering are becoming too heavy, we can up rate your steering to a range of rack and pinion units. Our success in racing Morgans is testament to what we can achieve.

Steering Boxes
A common upgrade fitted by Techniques is replacing your ‘worm and peg’ steering box to a ‘worm and wheel’ (Gemma) box. This will lighten the steering considerably.
We also can supply and fit Jack Knight ‘rack and pinion’ steering racks available in standard (3 turns lock to lock) and quick (2.3 turns) ratios. The quicker ratio makes the steering heavier which can be offset by fitting our roller bearing kit.

Suspension
The ride of older Morgans can be considerably improved by converting the old lever arm dampers to adjustable telescopic shock absorbers. We provide and fit coil springs with different spring rates to lower the car and to improve the handling. Panhard rods, anti tramp and brake reaction bars can be supplied and fitted though generally for use with competition in mind.

Braking Improvements
The standard Morgan braking system in good condition is more than capable of providing safe braking even under spirited driving. However, where customers have increased the power of their cars over the standard specification we would always advise improvements to the braking system.

Brakes
We can convert cars to front and rear disk brakes and up rate existing brakes to 4 or even 6 pot callipers together with grooved, drilled and ventilated disks. We can install dual system braking with braided lines, servo assistance and brake reaction bars to ensure a consistent and reliable brake pedal. We can also advise on and supply the most suitable brake pads for the cars intended use.

Power Upgrades
The various engines fitted to Morgans can all be made to release more power without compromising reliability. We have considerable experience of increasing the power output of all the Ford and Rover engined cars be it for fast road or track use. Gains can be achieved from simple changes to the ECU for improved management of engine combustion or we can suggest more radical solutions involving rework of the block and head. Please come in and discuss your requirements with us.

Rover Engine
The Rover V8 is particularly suitable for improving power and torque. There is a myriad of options and we will take time to understand exactly what you require. Relatively mild and cheap performance improvements can be achieved with your 3.5 litre car by upgrading to 3.9 litres, porting the heads and changing the CAM. Power outputs of around 230bhp can be safely achieved. After that, it is really a case of how much power and money can you cope with!! After approximately 250bhp, the engine will require more expensive internals to allow the engine to rev higher. Our ultimate Rover V8 to-date is a 5.3 litre producing 370bhp!

Tanks and Radiators
We can supply and fit ‘aircraft grade’ aluminium radiators and fuel tanks to our own specification for all Morgan models.
Our alloy radiators, suitable for road and competition use, are a direct replacement for the standard unit originally fitted.
These very efficient radiators will reduce the engine running temperature in hot conditions and of course are considerably lighter in weight.
